Kenneth W. Graves, 98

Kenneth W. Graves passed away Nov. 6, 2016, in Spokane, Wash. Born Jan. 23, 1918, in Eau Claire, Wis., to parents William Graves and Olga Thompson.

Kenny’s family soon moved to North Idaho where he spent his childhood in Sandpoint under the loving care of his father, grandmother and grandfather. As a young man, he worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator. He later operated a taxi service before settling into a 35-year career at the Kaiser Aluminum, Trentwood facility.

Throughout his life Kenny enjoyed his cars, driving them on numerous road trips around the country. After retirement, he enjoyed taking car trips along with his adored wife, “Nan.”

Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie “Nan” Graves; his son, Jerry Graves; and his sisters, Dorothy Hilligoss (Adair) and Lucille Crane-Hylton (Collins). Kenny is survived by his children, Dennis Graves (Gretchen), Janet Barber (Larry), Kenneth W. Graves Jr. and Diana Sarratt (Rick); brothers Leland Graves (Joyce) and Milford Graves (Colleen); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A gathering will follow immediately after the service at the same location.
