Ulen, a senior defender from Post Falls High and North Idaho College, anchored a defense that limited Simon Fraser and Concordia to one goal in its first regular season matches. He also scored a goal on a penalty kick in the Vikings’ 5-1 win at Concordia, earning Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for Oct. 31-Nov. 6.

Carr, a 5-foot-11, 205 pound junior linebacker from Lakeland High in Rathdrum, was selected to the CoSIDA College Division Academic All-District 4 team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America. To be selected, a player must be a starter or key reserve, while being at least a sophomore in academic standing and maintain a 3.30 grade point average. They were chose from all NAIA institutions and junior colleges in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and all Canadian schools. For the season, Carr has 55 tackles in 10 games played.

Herring, a sophomore from Timberlake High in Spirit Lake, finished seventh in the Frontier Conference meet on Nov. 4 in Helena, Mont., in 19 minutes, 17.93 seconds, helping the Warriors clinch a berth in the national meet on Nov. 19 in Elsah, Ill.

College of Idaho volleyball

Meehan, a 5-9 junior outside hitter from Post Falls High and NIC, had eight kills, two blocks and one ace for the Yotes in a 25-21, 20-25, 25-15, 25-13 win over Southern Oregon in a quarterfinal match in the Cascade Conference tournament on Tuesday in Caldwell. College of Idaho (20-9) advances to the semifinals to face Eastern Oregon on Friday in La Grande, Ore.

Mueller, a 6-3 forward from Post Falls High, has scored five goals and assisted on two for the Beavers (6-8-3) this season and is second on the team with 12 points scored. Mueller has started 11 of 17 matches this season for Oregon State, which concludes the regular season today at Washington. Mueller scored the lone goal in the Beavers win over California on Oct. 30 in Berkeley, Calif., scoring in the 71st minute, his fifth goal in his career against the Golden Bears.
