What, you thought we'd gone home for the night? Ha! It's early yet. And while President-elect Donald Trump and a GOP-led House and Senate are celebrating, out here in North Idaho we're still counting ballots. Remember, it's not how quickly you count that counts.
Here's the latest update. Stick with us if you wish - we plan to man the fort until we can keep the eyes open no longer - or head on off to bed. We promise to bring you final Kootenai County numbers as soon as they're available.

Brian Walker just met very briefly with County Clerk Jim Brannon. Brannon says the write-in ballots are causing delays, and that the ballots have to be verified by a board. Apparently, every write-in ballot causes a delay. On the upside, Brannon said first results should be posted "any time." We assume that means "any time soon."
By the way, The Press newsroom team working on the Wednesday print edition includes reporters Brian Walker and Keith Cousins, chief photographer Jake Parrish, and copy editors Glen Christmann, Joel Donofrio and Mitch Bonds. Yours truly - Mike Patrick - was in charge of bringing the pizza and posting the updates you'll hopefully see here soon.
