Red Deer drops Spokane

SPOKANE — Michael Spacek scored his 10th goal of the season with 29 seconds remaining in overtime, sending the Red Deer Rebels past the Spokane Chiefs 4-3 in Western Hockey League play in front of 4,603 on Friday at the Spokane Arena.

Red Deer led 2-0 after the first period, with Spokane getting on the scoreboard on a goal by Hudson Elyniuk — his fifth of the season — to cut the deficit to 2-1 after two.

Spokane tied it on a goal by Keanu Yamamoto 57 seconds into the third period before Red Deer regained the lead eight minutes later.

Kailer Yamamoto scored his team-high 11th of the season 16:32 into the third to tie it for Spokane.

Spokane (6-6-3-1, 16 points) is tied with Portland for third in the U.S. Division and trails Tri-City by five points for second in the division.

Spokane hosts Tri-City tonight at 7:05.
