RELIGION: Think for yourself

| November 4, 2016 9:00 PM

The pastor at Candlelight Church needs to take a lesson from a very wise educator. Lynne Wild, my best friend who passed away in 2003, was the most spiritual person I have known. Lynne also taught at CHS.

Through the many years of our friendship we have had many deep conversations. I asked her once if she gave her personal opinion to her students regarding controversial subjects. This is what she expressed to me. “As a teacher it is my responsibility to keep my personal beliefs out of the classroom. Whether I am teaching politics, evolution etc., it is my responsibility to teach the facts of both sides regardless of my beliefs and then let the students decide for themselves (teach them to think for themselves). If I only teach my beliefs, I am then brainwashing my students and not allowing them to think for themselves.”

A message the bias organized religions need to think about!
