ELECTION: Your two choices

| November 4, 2016 9:00 PM

I get worried when I read about people deciding not to vote because they do not like either candidate. I would urge them to realize that one of these two people running will be elected president regardless of your individual action and it is the most important election we have had in years, if not ever. Failure to vote means you have given up one of the most important and sacred duties a citizen has. Many people have died obtaining and retaining this privilege. I am not enthusiastic about either candidate either but since one or the other will be elected regardless of my vote I want my vote to count so if we elect a disaster I can say I did or did not support it.

Since we have only two real choices, stop looking at the individuals and decide what type of country do you want and in what direction do you want the government to take us?

Do you want excessive spending of your tax dollar, high taxes, uncontrolled spending, open borders with little control over who enters the country, continued corruption in Washington with no accountability for misdeeds, continued high medical costs, expensive but ineffective education? If so, vote Democratic.

Do you want less government control, lower taxes, tighter spending controls, more freedom to select your child’s school and your medical insurance plan and more control over who enters our country then vote Republican.

One can nitpick any of dozens of single issues that support or detract from either the Republicans or the Democrats, but when you get down to where the rubber meets the road, it is a choice of either of only these two philosophies. The differences between the two are staggering and the future of our country depends on the choices made in this election. Letting your contribution (all be it small) pass unused is not a patriotic decision.
