DEMOCRATS: Working for you

As a registered Republican for almost a decade, I know we have tried Republican legislators as leaders in Kootenai County and our state Legislature. This year it is time for a change.

The hardest-working candidates in Kootenai County are the Democrats — Kristi Milan, Kathy Kahn, Tom Hearn and Richard Kohles (my father). This letter endorses all of these candidates on the grounds that they are working harder to get elected than their Republican rivals. They also have ideas and perspectives that will help create balance in the county and in the state Legislature. Their perspectives on issues related to education, the economy, and our natural resources and environment will best serve the interests of the majority of Idahoans long term.

Kathy, Kristi, Tom and Richard each bring valuable and varied perspectives and expertise on education and the environment. They appreciate the struggles of low-income workers and those struggling to escape poverty and other disadvantages. They will work across party lines to develop solutions to those struggles. If you are a non-voter, undecided, or even a “vote-by-letter” Republican voter, please take the time to broaden your knowledge about these candidates and their perspectives and positions on the issues that affect you.

All of these candidates are committed to the interests of our citizens, our local community and our state. They have done their homework, knocked on doors, and will listen and serve us all well. Your vote does matter — please use it to serve the public interest.
