Vallejo Rogness, 84

Vallejo Rogness, 84, died at home with her family present on Oct. 31, 2016. She was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Ogden, Utah, to George and Violet (Metzger) Johnson.

The family moved and settled in Coeur d’Alene, where she attended school and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1950. On Jan. 27, 1951, Vallejo married Duane William Rogness. They lived in Coeur d’Alene with their four children until 1969 when they moved to Woodland, Wash. After Duane died in 1993, Vallejo returned to the Coeur d’Alene area.

After her retirement from a career as an Administrative Assistant for Weight Watchers, she opened a day care in her home for many years; the children she cared for remember her and have many fond memories.

Vallejo was a proud and active member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles, she held all offices including two times as president of the auxiliary. She was also involved in Beta Sigma Phi.

In her spare time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crosswords. Family was her primary interest and she was very close with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children, Karen Youman, Pam Rogness, Jerry Rogness (Leslie) and Sally Blodgette (Brad); grandchildren include Christopher Youman (Becky), Amber Barham (Jim), Sara Youman, Evan Youman, Nick Blodgette (Misty), Jay Blodgette (Jenny), Emily Rogness, Abby Rogness, Kara Rogness and Ben Rogness; great-grandchildren Maddie and Lillie Youman, Avery Youman, Vanessa Barham, Cooper and Braden Blodgette, and Cash and Easton Blodgette; sister in-law Bernice Crook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eagles Auxiliary, 209 E. Sherman Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
