March 20, 1935 — Oct. 26, 2016

John McCaw went home to be with the Lord Jesus, Oct. 26, 2016, at his home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

John was born March 20, 1935, to Clyde E. and Anna E. (Williamson) McCaw in Coeur d’Alene. He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and attended North Idaho College. During his school years, he worked at the Roxy and Wilma theaters. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan and Korea.

Later he moved to Miles City, Mont., to manage the Wilma Theater there. He retired after 22 years from the Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility in Miles City. During this time, he helped to raise Ross Martz as a son. He enjoyed these times very much. Leaving many longtime friends behind, he returned to Coeur d’Alene in 1995. He was active in many civic organizations in Miles City and Coeur d’Alene.

John married Terry Burke in 1999. John considered that the happiest 17 years of his life.

John is survived by his wife, Terry Burke McCaw; sons Kyle and Ross; sisters Ermajean Fisher and Anna Beggs (Ian); brother Clyde McCaw (Charlotte); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John has spoken often that he was grateful to be born into such a loving family. Step-children Danny (Jo Anne), Eric Burke and Dawn Milton; grandchildren Madison and Bailey Burke of Coeur d’Alene, Kobe Burke of Hawaii and Steele Savokinas of California; and sister-in-law Helen Merritt of California.

Preceding him in death were his parents and infant twin sisters, Faye and Fern.

John was a very gentle, caring, Christian man, admired by all who knew him. He not only “talked the talk” but “walked the walk.”

Special thanks to everyone at Hospice of North Idaho for their loving care, and to Shawn, Gavin and Bert Richardson, Bob Harwood, Tammie and Mike Cadwalader, and Sharon Hoialmen for many years of blessed friendship.

Per his request, there will be no services held. A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Please visit John’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
