Charles A. Maier, 46
Charles A. Maier, 46, died on Oct. 17, 2016, in New York State. He was born May 9, 1970, in Bellevue, Wash., to Floyd A. Maier and Pasty J. (Adams) Maier.
During his childhood, Charles moved up and down the West Coast with his family, as his father was in the Coast Guard. After his father’s retirement in 1976, they moved to Coeur d’Alene where he received his education and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1988.
Charles was a soft spoken man who was liked instantly by all who met him. He loved movies and reading, but his life revolved around writing. While still in grade school, a Los Angeles newspaper bought one of his stories and that sealed the deal for his passion of storytelling. Into his teens and adulthood, Charles would write stories and send out to hundreds of publishers.
Charles was a very gentle and compassionate person. He followed in his mother’s footsteps and worked in the health care industry as a CNA in Wenatchee, Wash., Coeur d’Alene and St. Maries, Idaho. The care he gave to his patients was always thoughtful and loving.
Charles leaves behind his mother, Patsy of Wenatchee; sister Maureen Dahlgren of Wenatchee; his bother-in-law, Edwin Dahlgren of Moses Lake, Wash.; several nieces and nephews; as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Maier and his maternal grandmother, Gertrude Adams.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at the Church of the Nazarene, 4000 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
In lieu of flowers, donations for funeral cost would be greatly appreciated.
