Bruce William Hansen, 74

| November 1, 2016 9:00 PM

Bruce W. Hansen was born Aug. 24, 1942, to William Harry and Lucy Hansen in Susanville, Calif., and left us Oct. 29, 2016, with his sons and wife at his bedside.

Bruce was a four-year Air Force veteran, who upon discharge, completed college with a bachelor of science in personal management and a minor in accounting. He worked 13 years, auditing for the IRS, then as an internal auditor for several U.S. Army facilities. Directly after retiring from his auditing career, he obtained a California Real Estate Broker license and worked in sales and property management along with his wife, until he retired.

They moved from Susanville, to the high desert of Northeastern California, and built a hobby ranch where they enjoyed horseback riding and open spaces. Bruce was a voracious reader, a top-notch chess player, and enjoyed swimming. He was of a quiet nature, but when he spoke, he had something of importance to share.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Janie; sons Mathew and Scott; daughter Karen and six grandchildren.

Our family sincerely appreciates the outstanding care given to our loved one and respect shown to our family by the staff at Hospice of North Idaho. Donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho in Bruce W. Hansen’s name.

There will be no service for Bruce per his instructions.
