POEM: We won't forget

Memorial Day is for those we lost,
Doing their duty at any cost.
So sharply they march to the job at hand,
To protect us all, and our cherished land.
So we stop and think, what Independence means
to us, that in God we place our trust.
We have the freedom to walk the streets,
Pick the places we like to eat.
Saying hello to everyone,
Wave at the crowds just for fun.
Carrying a flag, oh so proud,
Singing their hymns of joy out loud.
Salute the flag as they pass by,
And all to know the reason why.
So many died for that flag above,
But all was done with honor and love.
We honor them with all our heart,
They came and died to do their part.
So today, we set aside,
And salute them all with love and pride.
