Summer Smash tennis tourney

COEUR d’ALENE — The third annual CTA Summer Smash tennis tournament, put on by the Coeur d’Alene Tennis Association, is scheduled for June 24-26.

The tournament will be for adults 18 and over and will include events in singles, doubles and mixed doubles at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Most matches will be played at Lake City High or Cherry Hill courts.

Entry deadline is June 20. No CTA or USTA membership is required.

Sun Belt adds fifth bowl tie-in with Arizona Bowl

The Arizona Bowl is announced this year’s game will be played on Friday, Dec. 30, at University of Arizona Stadium in Tucson.

The game time will be announced in early June. The Arizona Bowl will feature a team from the Mountain West competing against a team from the Sun Belt Conference. Both the Mountain West and Sun Belt have committed to sending teams to the Arizona Bowl for the 2016-2019 seasons.

The Sun Belt also has bowl ties with the New Orleans Bowl (vs. Conference USA), the GoDaddy Bowl (vs. MAC), the Camellia Bowl (vs. MAC) and the Cure Bowl (vs. the American).
