IMMIGRATION: Take right path

The growing problem of illegal immigration has come to the national stage striking often with immense ire and understandable frustration.

Those seeking to become a part of this great nation should seek to assimilate into the surrounding society while also maintaining the elements of their own heritage without subordinating their cultural identity.

By proceeding through the legal terms of the law of the land in their entrance to this nation, you comply to the Naturalization Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America which states the defense of the Constitution and the renouncement of all previous allegiance.

To enter illegally shines light on the lack of intent or commitment of fully declaring yourself as a citizen of the nation which you entered.

There is an aura of consummated ignorance in our legislature that extenuates the reasons and thus actively becomes a sponsor of the actions and an immediate promoter for political expediency rather than doing their duty as an elected member of their district or state in drafting legislation that makes any such actions highly improbable.

Illegal immigration casts a shadow on those who obtained their citizenship through the arduous legal ordeal and undermines the work it took to attain it.

“The bosom of America is open to receive not only the Opulent and respected Stranger, but the oppressed and persecuted of all Nations and Religions; whom we shall welcome to a participation of all our rights and privilege.”

The prolific words of George Washington ring true today.

Let us be the orchestrators of resolve, not the architects of chaos and upheaval and do our part in assuring those new here can assimilate into the society by involving them not ignoring them.
