Facebook post prompts police activity at NIC

| May 26, 2016 8:26 AM

Students and staff at North Idaho College were alerted this morning by campus email to police activity regarding a suspicious Facebook post.

The suspect was taken into custody in Coeur d'Alene not long after the following email message was sent out:

Local law enforcement officers are investigating a post on Facebook claiming "300 likes and I'll shoot up a school."

All schools in the region are taking necessary precautions to watch for the individual with added patrols while police and his probation officer are making contact. He lists North Idaho College on his Facebook page, although he's never taken any classes here and police do not feel there is an imminent threat to NIC.

Updates to come. No action is required by NIC employees at this time.

The Press will update this as soon as additional details become available.
