| May 25, 2016 9:00 PM

On your mark. Get set. Read.

The Community Library Network encourages readers, preschool through young adults, to explore all things sports and fitness for the 2016 Summer Reading Program. “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” is the theme this summer. Libraries in Athol, Harrison, Hayden, Pinehurst, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Spirit Lake and the Bookmobile are hosting programs and events through Sept. 1.

Activities include special events such as the CDA Youth Marimba Band, Cecil’s Magic, and Extreme Science. Rathdrum, Post Falls, Athol, and Spirit Lake libraries will host the Knights of Veritas. The knights will demonstrate the skill and physical prowess of authentic combat techniques from the Middle Ages using real swords. Check with the libraries or online for event dates.

The 2016 Summer Reading Program is open to young people of all ages and abilities with programs, prize drawings, storytimes, crafts, themed program series, and more.

Online registration for “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” begins Wednesday, June 1 at communitylibrary.net/kids. The site will also give details on all programs offered this summer. For more information, call any one of the libraries or visit online communitylibrary.net/kids. All programs are free of charge.
