Spoiler alert: Bill Murray is not moving here
COEUR d’ALENE — If you believe everything you read on social media, actor Bill Murray loves Coeur d’Alene and has decided to make it his home.
But despite what you may have read online Tuesday, the actor — who has portrayed everyone from assistant greenskeeper Carl Spackler in ‘Caddyshack’ to Baloo the bear in ‘Jungle Book’ — is not relocating to the Lake City.
A faux news site, called News Daily 27, posted a story Tuesday saying Murray, a former “Saturday Night Live” cast member and film actor, was moving to Coeur d’Alene. Under the “About” tab on the faux news webpage it states: “News Daily 27 is a fantasy news site. Most articles on newsdaily27.com are satire or pure fantasy.”
ThatsFake.com reports a number of hoaxes are spreading across Facebook and Twitter that claim various celebrities are explaining why they have chosen to move to a particular location. According to ThatsFake, the rumors derive from various articles printed on several different sites and each article targets a different celebrity and place, but all seem to claim that the celebrity has “tired of the L.A. lifestyle.”
“While the celebrity name and location change depending on what variant you read, from the examples we’ve seen, the bulk of the story itself remains identical,” ThatsFake reported. “In every single case we have investigated, the rumors are false. No mainstream media reports have surfaced collaborating any of these stories.”
Or maybe something just was Lost in Translation.
Below is the story that was published on News Daily 27:
COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — In a huge surprise to everyone in Los Angeles, Hollywood actor Bill Murray reveals in a new interview that he is moving to the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho area. He tells the magazine that he is “tired of the L.A. lifestyle” and is looking for a big change in life.

Those are the things I find most important in deciding where to live,” Murray told the magazine.
“I’m not retiring, I’m just looking for a change in life and I think I’ve found that in Coeur d’Alene,” Murray reassured fans.
