Margie L. Birkett, 91
Margie L. Birkett passed away peacefully on May 21, 2016, at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Margie was born on April 20, 1925, in Erlanger, Ky. She was the second of 10 children born to Victor and Emma Donaworth. She met the love of her life, Donald, after World War II and was married in 1946.
Margie was an amazing mother and wife, raising six children. In 1959, the family moved from Erlanger to Redondo Beach, Calif. Margie was very involved in volunteer work for her children’s school and PTA, and was a Cub Scout leader. She loved boating, travel and gardening.
Once Margie and Don raised their children, they retired and moved to Palm Springs where she had taken up golf. They loved the desert, but when some of their children started moving north they decided to pick up and move as well and ended up in Coeur d’Alene.
Margie was strong in her faith and believed that God was in the driver’s seat. She was a longtime member of St. Pius X parish. Don and Margie were members of the Elks Lodge in Coeur d’Alene. Margie loved playing Bunco with her Bunco ladies and having monthly birthday luncheons. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 2011 and her son, Terry, in 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Donna, Vicki and Sherri; sons Tom and Larry; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At Margie’s request, donations to Hospice House, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815, would be greatly appreciated.
