Amelia Jo Homen Perreira, 50

| May 21, 2016 9:00 PM

Amelia Jo (Homen) Perreira, 50, passed away May 18, 2016, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born to Joaquin and Joan Homen in Los Gatos, Calif., on Aug. 6, 1965.

Amelia was a strong, loving mother of 10 children and happily married to Michael Perreira Sr. for 28 years. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. She went in and out of remission, countless chemo treatments in the coming years and survived a brain tumor in 2015.

As a stay-at-home Mom, Amy selflessly devoted what time she could to raising her children to the best of her ability. In early May 2016, chemotherapy was no longer effective and infection began to spread causing sepsis. After several days of hospitalization and the inevitable progression of infection, it was determined that it would be best to move her to the Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho. It was here, after making peace with family and friends, Amy quietly and comfortably passed away in her sleep, surrounded by loved ones.

Amy is survived by her husband, Mike Perreira Sr.; her sons, Michael Perreira Jr. (27), Joseph Perreira (22), Matthew Perreira (20) and James Perreira (17); and her daughters, Jessica Perreira (24), Maria Perreira (19), Jennifer Perreira (16), Melissa Perreira (13), Elizabeth Perreira (9) and Emily Perreira (7).

Amy is preceded in death by her father, Joaquin L. Homen on July 15, 2012.

A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 614 E. Fifth Ave., Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. Please visit Amy’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
