NIC GOLF: Swapp leads; Cardinal men, women in 2nd

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Braydon Swapp of North Idaho College carded five straight birdies on the back nine en route to a 6-under-par 66 and a three-shot lead after the first day of the Northwest Athletic Conference men’s and women’s golf championships at Veterans Memorial and the Walla Walla Country Club.

NIC’s men and women are both in second place midway through the 36-hole tournament.

NIC’s men trail Bellevue Community College by one stroke.

NIC’s women trail Bellevue by seven shots. Nicole Miller of NIC is in third with a 77, two strokes back of Kendra Meeker of Bellevue.

Preston Roth of Community Colleges of Spokane, formerly of Lakeland High, is tied for 15th with a 75.

On the women’s side, Megan Cysewski shot 85 (12th) and Haley Rotchford 90 (T20th) for CC Spokane. Both are also former Lakeland Hawks.
