Margaret Colton, 92

Margaret Colton, 92, of Hauser, Idaho, passed away May 10, 2016, at Hospice House of North Idaho. She was born April 6, 1924, in Miami, Ariz., and adopted by Maria Benzor. She lived in Arizona and southern California where she attended school.

In 1951, Margaret married Richard Colton in Los Angeles, Calif., and had eight children. After their retirement from the Army and living in several locations from Southern California to Alaska, they settled in Hauser in 1968.

After managing the store at Westside Resort for many years, she served as an auxiliary member of the American Legion, St. Stanislaus altar society, Hauser Lake election board, involved in the women’s quilting group at St. George’s, and enjoyed many years going to Ceramics Galore.

Margaret is survived by Richard (Pam) Colton, Penny (Lawrence) Bradbury, Patsy (Paul) Morton, Robert Colton, Pamela (Larry) Heuett, Peggy (Jerrald) Barsten and Priscilla (Craig) Routson; 26 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sister Stolie Rivera; sister-in-law Gwen Heuett; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; grandson Jason Bradbury and son Randy.

Margaret’s memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at St. George Catholic Church, 2010 N. Lucas St., Post Falls, Idaho, with burial following at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Cemetery, 1001 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene. A reception following the burial will be at Margaret’s residence, 12234 N. Burdette Lane, Hauser Lake.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice House of North Idaho for her care. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice or St. George’s. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

A public viewing will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at St. George’s Catholic Church in Post Falls. Interment will follow at Forest Cemetery.
