Hospice of North Idaho receives honors
Hospice of North Idaho has been named a 2016 Hospice Honors recipient by Deyta Analytics, a division of HEALTHCAREfirst. The company’s Hospice Honors program recognizes hospices providing the highest level of quality as measured from the caregiver’s point of view.
“Hospice Honors is a landmark compilation of hospices that provide the best patient and caregiver experiences,” said Bobby Robertson, President and CEO of HEALTHCAREfirst. “I am extremely proud of Hospice of North Idaho for achieving this highest of honors and I congratulate them on their success.”
Award criteria were based on Deyta Analytics Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey results for an evaluation period of April through September 2015. Award recipients were identified by evaluating hospices’ performance on a set of 24 quality indicator measures. Individual hospice performance scores were aggregated from all surveys with a final survey status of complete for the evaluation period and were compared on a question-by-question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in Deyta Analytics’ Hospice CAHPS database. Hospice of North Idaho is one of four Gem State facilities to receive the honor this year.
According to Hospice of North Idaho’s announcement of the Hospice Honors recognition, Hospice of North Idaho consistently ranks much higher than state and national averages on measures of quality, patient comfort, and overall satisfaction on family surveys.
“We are honored to have been named as a recipient of this award. I think it speaks to the quality of care we are committed to provide to our community, and also to the attention we give to our patients’ individual needs,” said Hospice of North Idaho Executive Director Kim Ransier.
Hospice of North Idaho was founded in 1981 and is the area’s only local nonprofit hospice. Hospice of North Idaho’s charitable mission is to ensure every patient receives superior hospice care, even if they are unable to pay for services. The organization also provides grief and loss support to the community, including specialized programs for kids and teens and Camp Kaniksu, a summer grief camp.
In 2011, Hospice of North Idaho opened Hospice House, which has served more than 1,500 patients. Hospice of North Idaho is headquartered in Hayden, Idaho, but serves seriously ill patients in Kootenai, Benewah, and Shoshone Counties.
