TRUMP: No record, no deal

| May 13, 2016 9:00 PM

Donald Trump has masterfully played to the vast majority of U.S. citizens who are “mad as hell” over failure of the U.S. Government to respond to the will of the people.

The irony of being “mad as hell” is that the same people lamenting failures in our federal government are responsible for sending them there. There are no walk-ons in elected federal government.

We owe it to ourselves to understand how poor selection of candidates leads to poor performance in government. I might add that not voting is a denial of being a good citizen.

In the United States 2012 presidential election, turnout was 55 percent. Knowing how the 55 percent was split, it’s safe to say that about 28 percent of all USA voters elected our U.S. president.

Don’t vote for any candidate, be it for president of the PTA or of the United States, based on personal likes or dislikes; vote based on what the candidate has accomplished. All who put their names on ballots at the state or national level should have a record of accomplishment in government of some kind.

Yes, everyone has to start somewhere. Local positions provide training in public service. Vacancies lacking experienced candidates provide opportunity for beginners.
