Sandra Layne Goldsmith Patterson, 73 years old

Sandra passed away peacefully at the Hospice House April 11, 2016 after a 15 year battle with Cancer.

Sandra was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri April 2^nd 1943 to Elaine and Albert Shoemaker.  She grew up in the South and in Tennessee she graduated high school in 1961.  She was an excellent student who loved the English language and was often found quietly reading outdoors.  She got married and gave birth to her first son Christopher in 1965 and in 1968 moved to Portland Oregon.  Her second son David was born in 1970.

Sandra was an amazing mother who dedicated all of her time to raising her family, often volunteering at local libraries and her children’s school. 

Sandra, was always drawn to North Idaho and moved to Hayden, Idaho in 1998.  She continued to volunteer her time with the Hayden Library and often with the Hospice Thrift Store.  Sandra was a sweet loving Mom, Grandma and Friend.  She welcomed nature’s beauty into her life and enjoyed quiet time reading and playing with her grandchildren. 

Sandra is survived by her two sons Christopher and David; five grandchildren Conor, Sydney, Ryker, Alexander and Griffin; her sister Elise and her mother Elaine.
