RULES: Apply to us all

| May 11, 2016 9:00 PM

Why is it we increasingly see a set of rules for “them” and another set of rules and laws for the rest of “us?” This is happening more and more on a national level (Obama often ignoring the U.S. Constitution; Hillary ignoring laws), on down to our own local level here in Kootenai County (David Stewart’s obvious evasion of taxes on and no permit for his home).

“We” the general public accept this as the norm anymore, allowing some lawmakers to suffer no consequences that we ourselves would be experiencing if we did the same things.

It is atrocious that Mr. Stewart is presently sitting with the Board of County Commissioners behind their big desk, making decisions on rules and laws “we” the people have to obey, while he is ignoring significant laws himself. And we passively accept that? The facts (well presented by the Coeur d’Alene Press) are all in public records that anyone can access regarding Mr. Stewart’s evasion of taxes and permits, but many ignore those facts and still support this candidate for re-election to a seat that creates and decides the laws for the general population. He’s one of three now deciding the new ordinances/rules for Kootenai County. Has this world gone completely crazy?

Well, I myself will not support and condone this type of action, and will give my vote to Chris Fillios, not a law-breaking individual who dictates to the rest of us, what he himself does not follow. Take back your county, demand your elected lawmakers follow the same rules and laws you are forced to adhere to. Just try not paying YOUR taxes.
