Carl Henry Charvat, 83
Carl Henry Charvat, 83, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 5, 2016, at home surrounded by loved ones.
Carl is survived by Mary, his wife of 59 years; Steven, his younger son; nine grandchildren: Gerry, Michael, Chad, Nicole, Khris, Adam, Cory, Kyle and Savannah; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an older son, Michael.
Carl was born on April 15, 1933, in Deer Park, Wash., to Edward and Lea Charvat. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. After the war, he would start a family. For a time, Carl worked in construction. He was a crane operator during the construction of Boundary Dam, located in the northeast corner of Washington state. Carl and his family would come to live in Rathdrum, Idaho. For more than 20 years and until his retirement, Carl worked as a truck driver for URM. He never missed a day of work.
Carl enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, watching the Seattle Seahawks and restoring classic cars in his shop. He was also known for the love he had for his German Shepherds.
