PREP GOLF: Post Falls boys, girls nab regional titles
• 5A REGION 1
POST FALLS — Joseph Glenn shot a 4-under-par 73 to take boys medalist honors for the Post Falls Trojans, and the Trojan boys and girls each won team titles at the 5A Region 1 tournament Monday at The Links.
Post Falls’ boys shot 303, 24 strokes better than Lewiston, which also qualified for state.
Post Falls’ girls shot 385, beating Lewiston by 32 strokes.
“You play a whole season, you may have good rounds and bad rounds, but it all comes down to one day,” Post Falls coach Maria Kostina said.
“One of the rules we have is, no excuses. The weather was brutal; it hailed on us, they blew the horn (to briefly suspend play) because of the hail; the greens were white. (Our kids) actually thrive on that (bad conditions). Some kids are going to use it an excuse, but this was never allowed in our school.”
Other than Post Falls and Lewiston’s boys and girls teams, the only other state qualifiers were Emily Callahan of Coeur d’Alene and Emily Dodge of Lake City.
State is next Monday and Tuesday at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle.
