CHS Vikings take first in shooting title
HAYDEN — The Viking Skeet and Trap Team from Coeur d'Alene High School shot its way to the top last weekend during the 2016 Idaho State Youth Shooting Sports Championship at the Coeur d'Alene Skeet and Trap Club in Hayden.
About 85 youths on six teams participated in the tournament. During the two-day event, shooters in three divisions — rookie, intermediate and varsity — shot 100 targets in trap, 100 targets in skeet and 100 targets in sporting clay. Teams competed for monetary endowment awards and trophies. The first place team received a $5,000 endowment award, second place received a $3,500 endowment award and third place received a $2,500 endowment award. Each team received $5,000 for participating.

Third place — Lake City High School Skeet and Trap Club

Second place — Canyon Blakeslee, Twin Falls Hot Shots, intermediate
Third place —Jake Pope, CHS Vikings, varsity
Females:
First place — Abigale Tanner, Boise Buckshots, varsity
Second place — Tara Walkden, Hayden Longshots, intermediate
Third place — Madelynn Rusho, Hayden Longshots, intermediate
