Bones to speak at final
NIC Booster Club luncheon
COEUR d’ALENE — Dr. Ryan Bones, the new owner of Beyond Bones Chiropractic care facility in Riverstone, will be the speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club Luncheon noon Tuesday.
The final Booster Club luncheon of the school year will be held at a new location: Rivelle’s River Grill in Riverstone (2360 N. Old Mill Loop — next door to Starbucks).
Bones was born and raised on a South Dakota farm, and will talk about the new innovation in chiropractic treatment related to sports injuries. He earned his degree in biological science from the University of Nebraska, and went on to receive his doctorate of chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas. His new office, opened in March 2016, is a state-of-the-art office specializing in neurologically based chiropractic corrective care for the entire family. Bones will offer a tour of his facility after the luncheon if interested.
After this luncheon, the NIC Booster Club luncheons will resume at the start of the school year in the fall starting Aug. 30. Information: 769-3348
Washington State to face
Creighton at Paradise Jam
Washington State’s men’s basketball team will face 2016 NIT participant Creighton in its first game of the 2016 Paradise Jam, Friday, Nov. 18 at 5:30 p.m. PST at the University of the Virgin Islands at St. Thomas, Basketball Travelers, Inc., announced Friday.
The other three matchups scheduled for Nov. 18 start with Loyola (Chicago) taking on Saint Joseph’s at 9:30 a.m. PST, followed by Oral Roberts facing Ole Miss at noon PST. Montana will take on NC State at 3 p.m., followed by WSU’s game against Creighton. The Cougars will take on either Montana or NC State in the second round. The losers of the first game will face off on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. PST, while the winners have a day off before meeting Sunday, Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m. PST.
The final day of competition is Monday, Nov. 21 and starts with the battle for seventh place at 9:30 p.m. PST, followed by the fourth-place game at noon, the third-place game at 3 p.m. and the title game at 5:30 p.m.
This season will mark the first time that the Cougars will participate in the Paradise Jam, as it will mark their first game at the Virgin Islands.

Former Borah star Wright
transferring to San Diego
Isaiah Wright, a two-time 5A All-Idaho Player of the Year at Borah High in Boise, is transferring to the University of San Diego, the Idaho Statesman newspaper of Boise reported.
Wright, a point guard, played sparingly the past two seasons at the University of Utah. After sitting out the upcoming season, Wright will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Toreros of the West Coast Conference.
Wright also considered Utah Valley and Utah State, the Statesman said.
Avista Stadium selected
as NCAA regional site
SPOKANE — Avista Stadium, in conjunction with Whitworth University and the Spokane Sports Commission, has been selected as the site for the 2016 NCAA Division III Baseball West Regional May 18-22.
The home of the Spokane Indians will serve as the home to one of eight regionals with the winner advancing to the NCAA Division III World Series to be played May 27-31 in Appleton, Wis.
Avista Stadium last played host to collegiate baseball in 2006 when it served as the home venue for the Gonzaga Bulldogs from 2004 to 2006 during the construction of the Patterson Baseball Complex on the campus of Gonzaga University.

EWU Athletics Hall of Fame
Featuring a quartet of athletes with more than 40 years of championship success and groundbreaking achievements to their credit since attending college, the 16th induction of the Eastern Washington University Athletics Hall of Fame takes place Oct. 1, 2016, in Cheney.
Former Eastern All-American and National Football League offensive tackle Michael Roos (2000-04) will be inducted after a 10-year All-Pro career with the Tennessee Titans. He retired on Feb. 26, 2015, after starting all 226 games he played from 2002-14 as a collegian or professional.
Also to be inducted is Ed Waters, who was a record-breaking point guard on the 1976-77 men’s basketball team, which was previously announced as a 2016 inductee. Waters has since gone on to a coaching career at his alma mater, Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles.
Trailblazer Becky Nelson-Clark (1968-71) is one of two track and field standouts to be inducted, having won the 1971 national championship in the high jump during a major growth stage of collegiate sports competition for women. She has since gone on to a long career in sports medicine and physical therapy in the Spokane and Cheney area.
Record-breaking 800-meter runner Steve Kiesel (1976-79) will also be inducted for his achievements on the track and his contributions as a coach, which includes a pair of state cross country titles at nearby Mead High School. He finished fourth in the 1977 NAIA Championships in the 800 meters with a time of 1:48.51, which has stood as a school record for nearly 40 years. He was coached at Eastern by Hall of Famer Jerry Martin.
