Art contest winners named
RATHDRUM — Lakeland High School’s library is filled with student submissions from the ninth annual LHS Art Competition. Local artist and North Idaho College instructor Michael Horswill donated his time to judge this year's 119 submissions.
Winners received ribbons and monetary awards. The show will be on display until the end of the month. The closing reception is during Lakeland’s Spring Showcase, May 26, from 5-6 p.m.
First place winners in the four categories:
Outdoor life/animal/landscape — Emily Brown, 11th grade
Three-dimensional/ceramics — Kassandra Marcella, 12th grade
Fantasy/abstract/experimental — Emily Brown, 11th grade
Portrait — Karli Elmose, 11th grade
Best of Show:
Kassandra Marcella, 12th grade — Steampunk–themed sculpture, "Lord Gears A Lot and Sparkles"
People's Choice Award:
Troy Pluid, 12th grade — Oil painting, "Mountain Home"
