CHEATHAM: Major accomplishments

| May 6, 2016 9:00 PM

North Idaho is fortunate to have Rep. Don Cheatham representing us in the Legislature in Boise. There is no logical reason to replace this dedicated conservative leader. He certainly should not be replaced by the untested blank slate candidate, Mr. Riggs.

Don Cheatham, during the past two years, has put his experience to good use for Idaho. Don has 25 years of experience with the Los Angeles Police Department that included roles in terrorist prevention, SWAT and the Gang Task Force. His ability to work with his legislative peers has gained him respect in his office. He sponsored or co-sponsored the following legislation: authorization of a Veterans Home for North Idaho, constitutional weapons carry legislation, reasonable restriction on eminent domain, improving disability and death benefits for firefighters with occupational diseases, and prevention of illegal harvesting of the organs and tissue of unborn infants. Wow, all of this in two years as a Representative! Just think what he can accomplish in the next two years.

Mr. Riggs seems like a nice young man, but his credentials as a Republican are questionable. County records show he only voted in two of the last eight Republican primaries. He only voted in three of the last seven general elections. As a recent Precinct representative he only attended about half of the monthly meetings during the past two years. North Idaho deserves a Representative willing to show up for work. Let’s return our trusted and tested Rep. Don Cheatham to Boise to continue his valuable work.
