New firehouse coming up; city hiring firefighters

Crews are making way for construction of Coeur d'Alene's fourth fire station, expected to be completed sometime this fall.
The new station will be located in the city's northwest region, on Atlas Road, north of Hanley Avenue.
The new fire house's design will be similar to that of the station on N. 15th Street near Cherry Hill. It will house nine firefighters, three per shift, and equipment, including a fire engine.
Funding for the new station is coming primarily from a bond approved by voters last year and fire department impact fees from new construction.
