Jean Dilley, 86
Jean Dilley, 86, passed away at Valley Vista Care Center on May 1, 2016, in St. Maries, Idaho. She was born to William and Isabella Laing on Nov. 26, 1929, in Highland Park, Ill. Jean grew up in Illinois, graduating from Highland Park High School in 1947.
Following high school she met Joseph Dilley at her job. Joseph would throw paper clips over the wall to get her attention. Once he got her attention, the couple began dating and eventually married. They moved to California and started their family having three girls. Jean was a homemaker and loved her job. She went to work for 10 years as a Deputy Marshall, and worked part time at the local bowling center.
After the couple’s children were raised and Joe retired, the couple moved around and traveled a lot. Joe passed away in February 2001, and Jean went to live with her daughter Cherie in Post Falls, Idaho.
Jean’s passion was bowling. She holds records of bowling at her hometown in Camarillo, Calif., and she traveled each year to the Women’s National bowling tournament. Jean bowled right up until she came to live at Valley Vista Care Center in St. Maries. She loved her grandchildren, she loved traveling to see her family, and she loved her beloved dog, Puff.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Jolane Jewel and Lorie (Ron) Boles of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; and her daughter, Cherie (Joseph) Boragaro of Post Falls. Also surviving are six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dilley; brother Bill Laing; and sisters Helen Drew, Margaret (Peggy) Canavit, Mary Laing and Grace Gdowski.
At her request, there are no services. Please visit Jean’s online memorial at www.hodgefuneralhome.com.
