Driver, bicyclist ID'd in Post Falls fatal crash
POST FALLS — The 8-year-old Post Falls boy who died Monday when his bicycle and a vehicle collided was identified this morning as Phillip J. Geisinger.
The driver of the 2000 Nissan Maxima was identified as Chadd W. Webster, 22, Post Falls.
During the investigation, Webster was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office press release. He also had an outstanding traffic warrant for failing to appear on a previous charge of driving on an invalid driver’s license.
Webster was arrested at the scene and booked into the jail for the outstanding warrant as well as possession of drugs (heroin) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges may be forthcoming based on the findings of the Sheriff’s Traffic Investigation Team.
Toxicology and autopsy results will not be available for several weeks.
On Monday around 3:45 pm, the KCSO responded to the intersection of East Aspen Way and South Pine Court for the crash.
Preliminary investigation showed that three juvenile males were riding their bicycles southbound on Pine Court, turning westbound onto Aspen Way. The second bicyclist in line turned wide and collided with the driver’s side quarter panel of the Maxima that was traveling eastbound on Aspen Way.
Life-saving measures were given to Geisinger at the scene by a responding deputy and an off-duty fireman. He was then transported to Kootenai Health where he was pronounced dead.
The KCSO has not determined who was at fault during the crash.
