8-year-old boy dies after vehicle v. bicycle crash
POST FALLS — An 8-year-old boy died after a vehicle versus bicycle crash in Post Falls on Monday.
According to the preliminary investigation by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, the car, driven by a 22-year-old Post Falls man, was eastbound on East Aspen Way around 3:45 p.m. when the male juvenile and two other boys, all riding bicycles, came south off South Pine Court.
The driver of the car was arrested on an unrelated traffic warrant, according to the KCSO. There were two adult female passengers in the car who were interviewed and released from the scene. The intersection is east of Ross Point Road and south of Seltice Way on the city's southeast side.
Shortly after the crash call was initially aired, an update indicated CPR had been initiated on the rider of the bicycle, who was eventually transported to Kootenai Health where he was pronounced dead.
KCSO Sgt. Ward Crawford said at presstime that it was too early in the investigation to determine who was at fault in the crash.
No further information was available at press time on Monday night. A press release states more information will be available today.
