COEUR d'ALENE — Two voting deadlines are approaching for the May 17 primary election.

Voters who want to vote early in person can do so beginning today through May 13 at the County Elections Office at 1808 E. N. Third St., Coeur d'Alene. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registered voters should bring photo identification with them to cast their ballot or they may sign a Personal Identity Affidavit instead.

New registrants, or those who’ve moved or changed names, must re-register.

They must bring a photo ID and proof of residency, such as a utility bill or auto insurance certificate with the voter’s current residence address listed, dated at least 30 days prior to their voting date.

Voters who want an absentee ballot mailed to them need to submit their request by 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 11.

Voters can click http://www.kcgov.us/elections/ to download the Absentee Ballot Request form. The form can be returned to the elections office by mail, fax or email. Kootenai County is paying the postage for mailed absentee ballots.

Voters with questions about their proof of residency documents or election questions in general should call 446-1030.
