Candidate forum tonight in Cd'A

| May 2, 2016 5:25 AM

Kootenai Shoshone Farm Bureau, Coeur d’Alene Lakeshore Property Owners Association and North West Property Owners Alliance are co-sponsoring a candidate forum today for those running in opposed races for Kootenai County commissioner Districts 2 and 3 and for the sheriff’s position.

The forum will be held at 6:30 tonight at Candlelight Christian Fellowship, 5725 N. Pioneer Drive, Coeur d’Alene. The church is located along U.S. 95 near the Dalton Avenue intersection.

All six county commissioner candidates — David Stewart and Chris Fillios in District 2, and Leslie Duncan, Bob Bingham, Duane Rasmussen and Fred Meckel in District 3 — are expected to attend.

Without any Democratic challengers in the May 17 primary, the winning candidates in each commissioner district will run unopposed on the November ballot.

Also on the forum agenda are the two candidates vying for county sheriff: Ben Wolfinger and John Green.

“It looks to be a very informative evening as a panel from the sponosoring organizations will ask the candidates to address issues that are seen as significant to property owners and voters in Kootenai County,” stated the group’s announcement.

Candidate literature will be available. Time will be allotted prior to the forum start and again afterward for the public to meet and visit with candidates.
