Shadow men, women set for

season openers today in Yakima

A tale of two stories begins this morning when the Spokane Shadow First Teams step into the bus and embark on their season-opening trip to Yakima for a doubleheader to face the Hoppers at Marquette Stadium.

For the men, it’s the start of a campaign to defend back-to-back titles they have captured in the Evergreen Premier League. For the ladies, it’s a new era as they will be the first women’s side to represent the Shadow.

The Shadow women play the Yakima United Hoppers at 2 p.m., playing in the newly-created Northwest Premier League, which was established by EPLWA clubs that wanted a matching women’s league.

The Shadow men face Yakima United at 4:30.

Alec Maldonado, the former Lake City High standout who played last fall as a freshman at North Idaho College, is listed on the Shadow men’s roster.
