NOTICE OF 30-DAY PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD AND HEARING REGARDING REGIONAL HAZE 5-YEAR PROGRESS REPORT PROPOSED ACTION: The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is proposing to submit a 5-Year Mid Term Progress Report on the Regional Haze State Implementation Plan (SIP) to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) addressing Idaho's visibility impacts on Class I Wilderness and National Monuments within Idaho and other Class I areas impacted by Idaho in order to meet the requirements under 40 CFR 51.308 and Subpart P - Protection of Visibility requirements. The intent of the Regional Haze SIP is to reduce the impacts of man-made visibility impairing pollutants on Class areas. The plan set "Reasonable Progress Goals" and developed "Long Term Strategies" to attain the progress goals. The intent of this Progress Report is to review the Reasonable Progress Goals (RPGs) established for each of the Class I Areas within Idaho and determine if the Long Term Strategies are providing reasonable progress toward the RPGs or if mid-course corrections are needed. This report determined the current strategies are meeting the RPGs. The 30-day comment period begins on March 30, 2016 and ends on May 2, 2016 PUBLIC HEARING A public hearing will be held at the Department of Environmental Quality, 1410 North Hilton, on May 2, 2016, at 3:00 pm. A brief overview of the Regional Haze Plan and the Progress Report will be provided and followed by public comments. AVAILABILITY OF MATERIALS: The Idaho Regional Haze 5-year mid term report 30-day Public Comment report is available for public review on the DEQ's Web Site at http://www.deq.idaho.gov. Printed materials will be made available upon request at any of the DEQ State office in Boise.
