Calling all Ninja warriors, detectives, pirates, cowboys and Minecraft players.

You’re needed for big time adventures and fun at Kamp Ka-Mee-Lin this summer.

“Every year we change up our camp themes,” said Josh Oakes, Post Falls Recreation Coordinator. “This year we’re going to include some popular video game themes into a live, action camp. One of them is going to be Nintendo Legends. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The city of Post Falls holds a host of themed summer camps starting in June for boys and girls ages 4-13, said Oakes.

“We really have something for everyone,” said Oakes. “Your child will not be bored.”

Yvonne Valdez is sending her daughter, Hannah, back to summer camp this year.

“She had so much fun last year,” said Yvonne. “They keep them busy. The kids are not sitting around. She learned she likes archery. She also enjoyed the week of art.”

Registration for the camps starts Thursday, April 14. The Post Falls summer camps are held at Kiwanis Park, which is located on 40 acres along the Spokane River.

Parents can drop off their child at 7 a.m. and pick them up at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the camp building in Kiwanis Park.

Weekly camp fees start at about $90. There are two overnight camping trips for the kids (11-13). One trip goes to Devil’s Elbow on the Coeur d’Alene River. The other trip is held at Farragut State Park. The flat fee for the week of those trips is $165. There is a $10 deposit for each week that you would like to reserve a space for your child.

Children with disabilities are able to attend summer camps.

“My daughter is a Type 1 diabetic and they did an absolutely fabulous job taking care of her,” said Valdez. “She even found a friend who also has diabetes. It was wonderful.”
