PREP ROUNDUP: Garza does it all in Timberwolves' sweep
• BASEBALL
LEWISTON — Cody Garza finished the day with three hits, a clutch 2-run triple and two saves, helping the Lake City Timberwolves sweep the Mountain View Mavericks of Meridian 10-6 and 6-4 in the North-South baseball tournament on Friday at Lewis-Clark State’s Harris Field.
“Cody had a great day, offensively, defensively and closing the door for us,” Lake City coach Paul Manzardo said. “We played extremely well and it was great playing outside. We had great approaches all day at the plate in the first game, we scored in every inning but one (fifth). All-in-all, we had great at-bats throughout the day. The guys stepped in and pitched extremely well.”
Tanner Criswell had three hits in the first game and Dominic Conigliaro had four hits on the day for Lake City (2-2), which faces Boise today at 10 a.m. at Harris Field, then plays Rocky Mountain at Church Field at 1 p.m.

PASCO, Wash. — Wyatt Setian had three hits — all doubles — for the Trojans in the second game of a doubleheader loss to the Riverhawks.
Earlier, Chiawana beat Post Falls on a one-hitter.
“I’m really proud of the guys for coming back in the second game,” Post Falls coach Dustin Frank said. “We had good approaches at the plate coming up with 10 hits in the second game. Offensively, we’re still leaving too many guys on base still. Our pitchers threw well enough to keep us in the game, but the biggest thing was getting out of the inning. I’m proud of the guys for coming back and stringing some hits together. We’ve got to clean some things up and need to score some more runs to beat good teams.”
Post Falls (5-2) will host Lakeland and Timberlake on Friday.
