Special Olympics summer
sports practices begin soon
Summer sports practices for area Special Olympics athletes begin soon.
Regionals will be at Lewiston on May 21 and state is scheduled for June 11 at Twin Falls.
Track and field practices will be held at Lake City High on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon.
Track and field practices are scheduled for April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, May 7 and 14, and June 4. Track and field will include all running and walking sports, Softball throw, tennis ball throw, and shot put
Basketball practices will be at 360 Fitness, 208 Coeur d’Alene Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Phone 667-5010.
Practices will be on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. Dates for basketball practices are April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, May 7 and 14, and June 4.
Swimming practices will be at 360 Fitness. Phone 667-5010.
Practices will be on Fridays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be the opportunity for a free swim from 7:30-8.
The dates for swimming practices are April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, May 6 and 13, and June 3.
Organizers are hoping to build a new unified competitive flag football team. At least seven players and a coaching staff are needed. Practices would be at Lake City High on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon.

COEUR d’ALENE — Due to an inavailability of umpires on Tuesday, North Idaho College’s softball doubleheader with Columbia Basin, rescheduled from this Friday due to weather and field conditions, has been pushed back to next Wednesday at Memorial Field, beginning at 3 p.m.
