Miss Northern Idaho Scholarship Program winners crowned
The winners of the first Miss Northern Idaho and Miss Northern Idaho Outstanding Teen event were crowned March 19 during a program at Lakeland High School.
Miss Northern Idaho is Olivia Kennedy of Moscow. She was awarded a $500 scholarship.
Hayden resident Janessa Riordan was crowned Outstanding Teen. She received a $125 scholarship.
The Miss Northern Idaho Scholarship Program, created in 2015, is a preliminary event leading to the Miss Idaho and Miss America competitions.
“What an amazing celebration of the accomplishments and attributes of all eight of our amazing young women from around Northern Idaho. They worked hard, and committed themselves to a process that is not as easy as it looks or seems,” stated the organization’s announcement of the winners.
In addition to the main titleholders, two more titleholders were appointed. Hope Sanborn of Coeur d’Alene is Miss Kootenai County Outstanding Teen, and Rachel Sovereign of Coeur d’Alene is Miss Syringa Outstanding Teen.
First runner-up for Miss Northern Idaho, Abriana Thompson, was awarded a $250 scholarship. Thompson also won the People’s Choice Award. Miss Congeniality was a tie — Renia Powell and Hope Sanborn both won that award. Janessa Riordan won the Teen Lifestyle and Fitness Award and the Teen Talent Award. Shaina Everett won the Miss Lifestyle and Fitness Award. Olivia Kennedy won the Miss Talent Award.
