Funeral services for Michael “Mike” Faber, 67, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the Rose Creek Longhouse in Worley, Idaho. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Longhouse. Burial will follow at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery at DeSmet, Idaho, with military honors. Mr. Faber passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, from cancer.

Mike was born March 4, 1949, in McMinnville, Ore., to Clyde Faber and Ruth (Boyle) Faber. Mike was raised in Alaska and Oregon. He attended schools in Metlakatla, Alaska, and later in La Grande and Elgin, Ore. Michael enlisted in the United States Army in September 1967 and served for 10 years. He was stationed in Germany for several months, and was discharged in 1977 as a SP5. Mike was injured in a fire during his military service. Mike returned to Oregon and attended Big Bend Community College and North Idaho College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business and an administrative major in computer applications.

He worked as a director of Tribal Housing for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe in Idaho, then the Umatilla Tribe in Oregon, and then for the Tsimshian Tribe in Alaska. Mike then worked for the Natural Resource Damage Assessment Program for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. He then worked as a Chemical Dependency Counselor in Alaska. Michael then worked as an Information Technology Specialist for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe prior to his retirement.

Mike married Theresa Smith at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on October 15, 1982. The couple has made their home south of Plummer, Idaho for the past 33 years.

Mike was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. He enjoyed bowling, and spending time on the Oregon coast. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Tsimshian Indian Tribe in Alaska, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Warriors Society.

Survivors include his wife, Tree, at the family home; six children, Michelle Faber of Vancouver, Wash., Sabrina Faber of Spokane, Wash., Renee Faber of California, Waylon Faber of Spokane, Levi Faber of Coeur d’Alene and Raven Faber of Plummer; brothers Gary Faber and Calvin Faber, both of Oregon; sisters Debbie Hunt of Hayden, Idaho, Linda Harris of Arlington, Wash., Shari Rose of Coeur d’Alene, and Barbara Faber of Oregon. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, including five grandchildren Mike and Tree adopted; his mother, Ruth Rose and stepfather Jack Rose of Payette, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Faber.
