Make like a penguin and help Special Olympians
Take a chilly dip in Lake Coeur d’Alene tomorrow and help support Special Needs Olympics Idaho.
Penguin Plunge will take place Saturday morning at Coeur d’Alene City Beach. On-site registration is at 10 and the plunging will begin at 11.
By either taking the plunge or supporting a plunger, anyone can help raise money and awareness for local Special Olympics athletes who train hard to compete in Special Olympics.
“Without the generous support and donations from our community, Special Olympics would not be possible,” stated the group’s event announcement.
For more information about registering for this event or to donate, please go to www.idso.org. Click on Coeur D’Alene Penguin Plunge on the drop-down menu titled “events.” You can also register at the event. Local law enforcement and fire personnel will be there to take the plunge alongside local athletes and family members.
For more information about joining the local Coeur d'Alene Eagles team as a volunteer or an athlete, contact Gregory Quinn, the local program coordinator.
Quinn is in the process of setting up a local volunteer board to help organize and manage the local team. He can be reached at gearchecker@yahoo.com.
