ELECTION: In a word, vote

| March 25, 2016 9:00 PM

As we all know this is a presidential election year like no other, with the future of generations to come riding on the outcome, especially with the Supreme Court also at stake. I would just like to urge all registered voters go to the polls and cast your ballot in November. If you are not registered to vote, please do so soon.

Even if you do not like any of the candidates that are running for office, please try to make an informed decision as to who would best represent our country and the needs of all of the American people, not just a few. Remember that we all have to live by the laws and policies that our government makes, whether we vote or not, so let’s all have a say in this election.

For us older voters, please remember that the national debt is something that we may never have to worry about paying back in our lifetime, but what about our children and grandchildren? I personally do not feel all warm and fuzzy about the way this country is headed. I think our politicians in Washington, democrats and republicans alike, need to be taken down a couple notches, especially when it comes to making laws and policies for the American people to live by and for which they are exempt from. We need to get someone in the White House that will try to make some changes in our government and not just follow current policies that have failed the American people so badly time and time again.

Thomas Jefferson is supposed to have said, although no one really knows if it was him or not that... “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take everything you have.” This phrase may have been “over used” by the Republicans in the last few decades, but to me it just makes so much sense.
