Marvin 'Bob' Lang, 86
Passed away peacefully at home in Post Falls, Idaho, on March 15, 2016. Marvin was a very Hard Working man deeply loved by Family and Friends in North Idaho and southern states, Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia. Born Aug. 3, 1929, in Angie, La., to Leslie and Lucille Lang, known to family as “Mammie and Papa.”
Preceded to Heaven by bothers John (Ray), Lester (Pete) and Olen; sisters Grace and Eva; and great-granddaughters Megan Dail and Emilee Marie
Survived by sisters Joyce and Peggy; wife Patricia Irene (Diteman) Lang; children Marvin (Susanne), Jerry (Betsy), Susan (Don) Johnson and Lorna (Joe Franks) Morgan; 12 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 1/2 great-great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marvin met and married Patricia, the Love of his Life 66 years ago while stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. The family moved to Lousiana in 1954 and back to North Idaho in 1968. While in Louisiana, Marvin operated a gravel pit with his best friend and music partner Fredrick. He loved racing cars; owned and operated Varnado Speedway, Lang Auto Service, Wheel-N-and-Eat grocery and sno-cone stand. Marvin loved spending time with family, playing music/harmonica with friends, camping and hunting. Volunteered for the Post Falls fire department when the town was small enough to ring a bell twice to notify volunteers of a fire and rang every evening at 9 for curfew.
He will always be remembered for being a Hard Worker true to his motto “Git’er Dun,” happiest when working, no projects too big or too small, always just a phone call away for anyone in need of a Helping Hand! He was frequently seen operating his back hoe, plowing snow, doing carpentry, landscaping, plumbing, cement work, roofing and auto maintanence.
He Got’er Dun!!
