Bertrand Wayne Seward, 36
Bertrand Wayne Seward passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Kootenai Health.
Bert was born Aug. 17, 1979, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Kathleen Louise (Riggs) Seward and Wayne Harmon Seward. He lived his entire life in this community, growing up in Hayden and Dalton Gardens, later living in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls. He graduated from Coeur d’Alene Senior High School in 2000 where he enjoyed being the equipment manager for the football team.
Bert was an extremely friendly person, everywhere he went there was always a new friend to be made and he would strike up a conversation with anyone. You could hardly go into a place and leave it without running into people he knew. Bert will always be remembered as a convincing and prolific storyteller!
Bert was an exceptionally faithful volunteer, as one of his greatest joys was working at Art on the Green. His two favorite places to work were the Dodge’s chicken and corn booth and the sausage booth; he so enjoyed working with Becky Brown. He would be there first thing in the morning until dark every day, shucking corn or whatever else they needed him to do. He also volunteered at The Altar Church serving meals.
Bert was also an avid fan of Special Olympics Idaho. For many years he enjoyed competing in several sports but bowling was his favorite. He always gave his best and had the medals to prove it! Bert continued in league bowling at Sunset Bowling Center as a member of the Lunchtime Specials team.
Bert was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Seward of Spokane; his grandparents, Ernest and Mary Seward of Delaware; and his grandparents, Frank and Joanne Riggs of Coeur d’Alene. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen (Kathy) Seward of Dalton Gardens; and his aunts and uncles, Ron and Sandy Riggs, Jack Riggs and Sandy Patano Riggs, Rachel Riggs and Sandee Riggs; his cousins, Tracie (Riggs) Hodge, Brandy (Riggs) Reinhardy, Aaron Riggs, Shannon (Riggs) Erwin, Peter Riggs, Jennifer (Riggs) Drake, Jordy Patano and their families, all of Coeur d’Alene; great-uncle Jerry Riggs of Coeur d’Alene and great-aunt and uncle Lolita and Tom Casto of Spokane; and a friend who was more brother than friend, Eric Teall of Post Falls.
English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is handling the arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at English Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Special Olympics Idaho (note for Coeur d’Alene Eagles team) c/o Gregory Quinn, 31798 N. Middle Ave., Spirit Lake, ID 83869.
