PREP ROUNDUP: Vikings shut out Bulldogs

COEUR d’ALENE — Nathaniel English and Jonny Plum drove in three runs each, leading the Coeur d’Alene Vikings past the Sandpoint Bulldogs 10-0 in a nonleague game on Thursday at Ted Page Field.
“Honestly, we did everything well today,” Coeur d’Alene coach Nick Mahin said. “We played really spectacular defense and took a lot of hits away. I was really happy with the defense and how we threw the ball today. Again, six of our 10 runs came with two outs, so we had some good defense and timely hitting.”
Brendan Delgado struck out six and walked none for Coeur d’Alene (2-0), which plays a doubleheader at Richland on Tuesday.

Even though we lost, I liked our spirit tonight. We never gave up. We just have to clean up some of those mental lapses and make sure we’re focused every pitch. “Dustin’s double was a game changer for us,” Timberlake coach Matt George said. “It was a nice, deep double and it was good to see a young kid come through like that. We kicked it around a little more than normal, but we’re getting better.”
