| March 17, 2016 9:00 PM

POST FALLS — Summit Cancer Centers will hold a grand opening celebration of its latest cancer center.

The event will be at 1641 E. Polston Ave., Suite 102, Post Falls, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23.

It will include refreshments, a display of artwork by cancer patients and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The public is invited.

Brian Samuels, Naseer Ahmad and Frank Lamm, long-time cancer specialists in North Idaho, will staff the new clinic.

"Opening our state-of-the-art cancer center in Post Falls will offer patients in North Idaho access to expert cancer specialists and treatments without having to travel extensive distances," Samuels said. "Our center is conveniently located on the campus of Northwest Specialty Hospital. Summit provides easy access with plenty of free parking for our patients and their families."

Lamm added: "The new Post Falls facility will increase our ability to offer unique, multi-disciplinary oncology treatments that deliver personalized cancer therapies, providing renewed hope to an even greater number of cancer patients in North Idaho. The Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator — in conjunction with our cutting-edge clinical services, imaging and sophisticated diagnostic evaluations — allows us to bring to our patients the most up-to-date cancer treatments available."

Summit Cancer Centers Post Falls provides a "one-stop" approach to patient care that includes a team of medical and radiation oncologists, experienced cancer care providers such as nurse practitioners and pharmacists, and a radiation treatment center.

The clinic will offer cancer diagnostic and treatment services, including comprehensive physician consultations, rapid second opinions, chemotherapy, diagnostic testing and complete lab services to identify and treat cancer. Advanced imaging modalities, adjunctive therapies and support services will complement the care Summit Cancer Centers provides.

In association with the Seattle CancerCare Alliance, North Idaho patients will have access to advanced treatment by participating in clinical trials for new medications and therapies offered at Summit Cancer Centers.

"This beautiful new facility is a major step forward in offering North Idaho patients integrated, innovative and inspired cancer care in their own communities," Samuels said.

The 11,000-square-foot facility was built by the Young Construction Group of Idaho, Inc.
